The awards are the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) Books for Children Award that awarded Tokwe a grant for t he purchase of books and the International Library and Information Group (ILIG) International Award for supporting Matenda School Library in Zvishavane.<a href=\"http:\/\/zimbabwereads.org\/zimla\/files\/2012\/08\/Matendaschool-library1-150x150.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-430\" title=\"Inside Matenda School Library\" src=\"http:\/\/zimbabwereads.org\/zimla\/files\/2012\/08\/Matendaschool-library1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to Chartered Institute of Lilrary and Information Professionals (CILIP) website, \u201cThe ILIG International Award is awarded to a person, group or committee, which has made a real difference to a community through their work in library and information services in countries outside the UK.\u201d The award comprises a cash prize and a one year\u2019s free subscription to <em>Focus on International Library and Information Work<\/em>, ILIG\u2019s journal.\u201d In nominating Hosea Tokwe, \u201cThe judging panel was struck by the commitment and contribution that Hosea . . . has made in the establishment of the Matenda School Library in Zvishavane, Zimbabwe. . . . to be inspirational and that the efforts and work . . . was worthy of further recognition.\u201d said CILIP website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One of the two individuals that nominated Hosea, Professor Paul Sturges stated that, \u201cThe success story of Matenda School Library points the way to fruitful co-operative structures that can involve committed professionals in a developing country, professionals in the Diaspora and other interested individual.\u201d reported CILIP website.<a href=\"http:\/\/zimbabwereads.org\/zimla\/files\/2012\/08\/Matendaheadmaster-150x150.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-432\" title=\"Matenda Headmaster at book donation handover.\" src=\"http:\/\/zimbabwereads.org\/zimla\/files\/2012\/08\/Matendaheadmaster-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zimbabwereads.org\/zimla\/files\/2012\/08\/Matendaheadmaster-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/zimbabwereads.org\/zimla\/files\/2012\/08\/Matendaheadmaster-150x150-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/zimbabwereads.org\/zimla\/files\/2012\/08\/Matendaheadmaster-150x150-110x109.jpg 110w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The IASL Books for Children Award is a cash prize for the purchase of books to support the library with reading material.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tokwes\u2019 efforts at Matenda started off with the establishment of a school library utilising local resources and book donation from Darien Book Aid Plan, and Weaver Press among other generous donors.
